Picktures app for iPhone and iPad

Picktures makes it easy to pick photos from the library on your iPad or iPhone. Choose which photos you want to see by specifying one or more of the following terms:-

• Country
• State
• City
• Location
• Keyword
• Date (year, month, day)

You can then flick through thumbnails of photos which match these terms. A single tap displays them full screen. A double tap then zooms to full size.

For each search term, a picker shows the choices which exist in your photo library. Each choice selects matching photos. Pickers only show choices from photos already matched.
You can specify search terms in any order, or remove them using one of the the clear buttons.

Picktures only picks photos which you have synced from iTunes. (They are in the Photo Library in the Photos app.) Apart from Date, the search terms are matched against IPTC tags which have been applied to your photos before syncing.

There are several iMac and PC apps which allow you to put IPTC tags on your photos. If your photos are not tagged, you will only be able to pick them by Date. In iTunes, specify Sync Photos from a folder, not from iPhoto, which removes the IPTC tags.

Note that this app requires permission to access Location Services. This is only required because reading a photo in your library gives the app access to location metadata which may be present in the photo. Picktures does not track your current location.
